La Rambla

La Rambla Tapas Bar on Urbanspoon

A rambla is a ravine. I already knew that though. :)

The place is full of trendies, and me. No one knows who I really am. :) I'm like Clark fucking Kent.

Tortilla Espanola
6/10

Spanish potato omelette.

This has a strong pepper taste, and a reasonsbly solid texture. It's a bit more interesting than just potato and egg.

Croquetas de pollo
4/10

Chicken croquettes.

I've brought a friend with me tonight. As long as he doesn't eat much, it will be fine.

This contains no discernible chicken. My accomplice agrees. In fact, its innards are exactly like the wheaty, doughy crust of a typical pie or pasty.

Chorizo frito
6/10

Fried chorizo in olive oil and garlic.

This is like big chunks of mild, warm salami.

Albondigas de Cordero
7/10

Spanish meatballs made from lamb and spices, cooked in tomato sauce.

These are nice and soft, and have a pleasant and tasty cumin flavour, and the aftertaste of parsley. Definitely much more flavourful than typical meatballs.

Escalivada
3/10

Roasted capsicum, zucchini and eggplant, tossed with olive oil.

I'm not sure I want to eat cold zucchini. This is like eating the left-over vegetables from last night's dinner. There's not much taste on top of the vegetables here. It's just garlic and oil.

Chipirones a la blancha
7/10

Grilled baby squid in Galician sauce.

Squid is naturally extremely bland, but the light browning and the lemon add interesting flavour to the meat.

There's also a nice taste of olives here.

There is no 'zert here. :(

I've had half of six dishes tonight, but I think half of eight would be right for most people.

I have divided the price by two.
