September 2014
One of my favourites. The view is obviously spectacular, but the feed is also among the best in Adelaide. It's been a while since my last visit, but this place was in my Top 5 restaurants in Adelaide.
This is my fourth visit to Fedora's. The first time, the food was amazing. The other two times, it was rather poor.
This place is at the Hilton Hotel, on the corner of South road and Bradman.
The food here sits on the border between "local pub" and "nice restaurant".
Most foreign restaurants just faithfully recreate typical foreign food. That's interesting for most people, but a bit mundane for my fancy snout.
Kenji does fine, creative Japanese food. There's a strong Western element, but it's still clearly Japanese.
My fourth visit to Faraja. The menu doesn't change much here, but that's okay. It's fairly extensive.
Why did the Chinese restaurant cross the road?
To acquire larger premises, in order to cater to an expanding base of customers.
This was a long established restaurant before it crossed the road. The new place is enormous. Other than giant suburban local hotel mess halls, this is probably the biggest restaurant around. I've only photographed one of the rooms.
It takes me a while to find the place. The door sign is suspiciously not in English.
The Adelaide Casino's only (and excellent) restaurant, "North", has closed. Maybe things went south. :)
Like Indiana Jones, I've used my trusty Urbanspoon app to find the nearest feedery.
Another chilli-fest. Half the things on the main menu list chilli as an ingredient.
At the Rockford Hotel, on Hindley St.
Every item on the new menu has a significant amount of chilli (or whole peppercorns) in it. This wasn't the case for my previous visits. The place is more Asian than international now.
The waitress is just enquiring about spiciness, and will be back shortly. :)
This is my favourite of Adelaide's Native Australian restaurants.
This place stands out for the interestingness of its food. It often deals in "flavours" rather than descriptions of cooking processes or finished food products. This place probably serves the most unusual Modern Australian food in Adelaide.
Since my last visit, the menu here has become like Tapas. (multiple little courses.) There also seems to have been a bit of a proliferation of offal. :|
I've left a large gap here since my last visit. A former employee of this place told me the staff had read The Feed Report, and my castigation of their dismal panna cotta. :)
