October 2014
Everything here comes from within a 100 mile radius... even me! :)
Although there's a bottling plant down the road, Diet Coke is still not allowed here. :(
This apple and strawberry juice is acceptable, however.
I grew up in Stirling, and this building used to be our local deli, before everyone realised the supermarket was cheaper, and just as convenient. :)
This restaurant is new. I haven't been here before.
This is northern Italian cuisine, which the menu tells me is influenced by nearby Switzerland and Piedmont.
This place is always full. It's one of the few places I'd recommend booking.
I find myself sitting at the bar once again.
Thirty seconds later, and I've been promoted to a table. :)
This place is very new. I wouldn't normally go somewhere unreviewed like this, but it's nearby, and sounds interesting.
The waiter is very pleasant and informative.
The waiter informs me that the place is aiming to do traditional Japanese cuisine, which means lots of small dishes.
Excellent tip: When ordering tapas, order one dish at a time.
Down at Glenelg, just where Jetty Rd curves northward. The sunset is nice, if blinding
I'm told I can sit wherever I like. The room isn't that big or full, but it takes 5-10 minutes for someone to come to my table, despite me waving.
A Diet Coke takes another five minutes to arrive, so I order my main course on the spot.
This is a reasonably fancy Chinese restaurant. I've had some great feed here, but also some rather average feed.
The waiter is fairly dry and matter-of-fact, but provides lots of useful information about the dishes on the menu. Almost everything on the menu has some amount of chilli in it.
The extremely chipper waitress at the front desk shows me to a table, and then turns back into a rainbow.
The view over the lake is nice. If tonight's feed is no good, I can take it outside and feed it to the ducks. :)
This is the restaurant of the Chifley hotel, on South Terrace.
Everything's mezze tonight. It's going to be a variety of small dishes.
These dishes are for two, so I'm going to order one at a time. That's my new strategy for mezze/tapas. It's easy to order too much feed, and be left in the terrible position of not having any room for 'zert.
