With its low-rise buildings and crap roads, McLaren Vale feels more like a country town than a suburb of Adelaide.
The restaurant is an old house, with an industrial kitchen grafted onto it.
Last time I was here, the place was empty. It still is. The food was good, but that's not a good sign for the business.
The waitress presents me with the menu of exotic international dishes. She later returns to tell me that they also have schnitzel with chips.
The new menu is very much smaller and cheaper, with only four options. However, they all come from different parts of the world.
I've interrupted an impromptu family gathering here, but the proprietor soon comes to the counter.
I've had an excellent pizza here before, so I want to try again, and see if this success can be repeated.
This is far from fine dining, but I'm basically looking for the best tasting food, whether it's something at a five-star restaurant, or a little pizza cafe.
This complex sits atop a multi-levelled pit, reminiscent of a strip mine. There are hundreds of people here, in the various eating areas.
The restaurant hall is full, so I'm seated at the nearby "dining section." :| My table comes decorated with beer coasters and a tower of Keno cards.
After a gruelling evening trying on fashions at Country Road, I'm famished. Time to head to the local Mexican eatery.
I normally order a Diet Coke, but tonight, I'm feeling in the mood for Horchata - a coconut drink with cinnamon.
This place is new. It's at the Mayfair Hotel, on King William St, at the west end of Rundle Mall.
I wonder if I have to pay $2000. I've landed on a hotel on Mayfair. :(
I hope 5245 is the postcode, not the 5245th restaurant these people have set up. :)
This place is at the top of a hill, inside the Hahndorf Resort. It's surrounded by holiday bungalows. It's actually reasonably fancy.
The menu is surprisingly downmarket. It's full of steaks, and other humdrum fare like burgers, fish and chips, and a "BBQ bucket for 2 persons." :|
This is the kind of menu that caters for posh people with lots of money, but no appreciation for fine food. The place is fairly empty right now, but I expect the carpark will soon be full of Saabs. :)
This French restaurant is very small. I don't know what the French word for boutique is, but it certainly applies to this place.
Tonight was almost a "feed fail." The place I wanted to go was closed, and the nearest place was closed down entirely. I knocked on the window, and called out for an entree, but there was no response.
Now I'm at Assaggio Ristorante. I've already been to this ristorante this year of The Feed Report, but I was running out of ristorantes to go to.
This place is a very big old house, with garden. It's been converted into a funky Italian restaurant.
There are no tables free, so I'm redirected upstairs to a room that's half like a bar, and half like someone's loungeroom.
Also, a major discovery. There's a car park with two free hours. It's off Archer St. It's perfect for feeders like me.
I'm taken to a table. I'm outside, in the garden, under a marquee. At 32°, it's a nice night for dining "al". There are probably a hundred people at this restaurant right now.
