Augé Ristorante
Have finished with Hutt St. and am now doing other CBD restaurants. Although on my initial run, I went to restaurants randomly, this time I’m going to do them in geographical clusters as much as possible. I want to avoid going to restaurants I’ve been to recently, however.
Potato dumplings, local mushrooms, almonds, basil & truffled cream.
The little plops of gnocchi were unusually soft and smooth, and tasty. They were sightly seared, which gave them extra flavour.
The cold truffled cream added nicely, but there wasn’t enough of it for each piece of gnocchi.
Roasted white chocolate brick, toasted pistachios, prosecco jelly, raspberry jam.
The central brick was like ice cream encased in white chocolate. It had toasted pistachios in it. The white chocolate had a very strong flavour that went well with all the random components on the dish. The sweetness of the white chocolate and ice cream was amplified when combined with the concentrated raspberry coulis which surrounded it.
I didn’t quite know what to make of the alcohol jelly. It was rather odd.
